Ref. MB130674 - With the Writers Edition Hommage à Jane Austen, Montblanc pays tribute to one of the most famous writers in English literature. A fluted classical column adorns the barrel made of elegant sand-grey resin, as does Jane Austen's signature. The contrasting grey-blue cap references the double-collared coat worn by noble Regency gentlemen such as Mr. Darcy from "Pride and Prejudice." Gold-plated rings on the barrel and platinum-plated fittings complete the design. The Roman numeral XLIII engraved on the cap ring refers to the chapter of the novel in which Elizabeth Bennet first visits Mr. Darcy's estate. The cover of her 1811 novel "Sense and Sensibility" only briefly states that "a Lady" wrote the work. Alongside the Montblanc emblem, this reference to the author adorns the cap top of the Writers Edition Hommage à Jane Austen Limited Edition. The silhouette of the writing instrument is reminiscent of a wax seal. And the clip is as unusual as the cap. Its braided cord shape with a drawstring resembles a reticule, a handbag in which noble ladies around the year 1800 carried their powder, a mirror, and the indispensable handkerchief.
